For once the sun shone bright for our annual Open Day, and we had a steady flow of children and parents from 11am onwards. The children enjoyed colouring and making the various paper animals. Then going into the Wilderness to follow the ‘I Spy’ trail. Pond Dipping was very popular, with children and adults enjoying finding the small creatures living in the beck.
The early wild flowers were in full bloom and with the leaves bursting out, the Wilderness was looking good. There is a wide variety of wildlife there, which, along with the birdsong, make it an enjoyable wood to visit.
Sammy the Squirrel again was popular, with children and parents who liked to have their photo taken with him. Two blue tit bird boxes were purchased and advice given as to where to site them.
A big thanks to all who helped make the day successful.
